Summit 42" Series Oil Country Hollow Spindle Lathe
Summit is proud to offer the newly redesigned Summit 42" Series Oil Country hollow spindle lathes. These rugged lathes are designed to provide the precision you expect and the rugged reliability required for today’s demanding applications. The 42 "Oil Country" lathes are available in center distances from 60" to 360" with spindle bores from 6" , 9", 12", 14" and 20" to cover a wide range of work pieces.

The quick-change gearbox allows easy selection of Inch, Metric and Module threads in a wide range of sizes. The headstock is designed with straight cut final drive gears that provide quiet and efficient operation through the full range of spindle speeds. The huge forged spindle is mounted in precision taper roller bearings for axial and radial load.
The bed of the Summit 42 series Oil Country lathes are constructed from high-grade alloyed cast iron, normalized and aged to achieve maximum stability. The lathe features castings that are heavily ribbed for rigidity and vibration dampening. The extra wide (22”) bed ways are hardened and precision ground to provide high accuracy and long life. An additional third way is provided on the front of the bed to provide additional support to the carriage to prevent deflection even in the heaviest cuts. The bed is designed for rear chip discharge and the lathe comes standard with floor mounted chip and coolant pans for easy chip removal.
The Summit 42" Oil Country lathes come standard with front and rear chucks with chuck guards, steady rest, follow rest, complete coolant system with chip pans and full length splash guard and a taper attachment incremented in both degrees and inches per foot. These lathes are also fitted with a hydraulic rapid tool retract device for semi-automatic threading.
